Looking for Photoshoot Locations in Cumberland, Vancouver Island?
Look no further! This location has my heart.
This versatile location offers so much- bluffs, boulders, Comox Valley views and lake-side lounging! Whether you are visiting Vancouver Island, live here or are searching for a beautiful photoshoot spot, I would recommend Comox Lake in (on the Cumberland side).

Where are the Boulders in Cumberland?
There are many different boulders, rocks, cliffs and bluffs in Cumberland that will take your breath away. However, my personal favourites are the ones right beside Comox Lake Parking lot.
If you go up the first trail on the very left from the parking lot, they are only about 50 meters in! Feel free to explore the whole area. It is a beautiful spot to enjoy, take photos and take in nature at it's best.
How Long is the Hike to View Comox Lake from Above in Cumberland?
The hike to view Comox Lake and the Comox Valley area from the Cumberland bluffs is 2.84 km round trip with an elevation gain of almost 250 meters. The way up can feel very steep! There are ropes in place that can be helpful to bring peace of mind and prevent sliding on your way back down.
It took us about 30 minutes each way. This may be longer or shorter for you depending on your skill levels and the group that you are with.
What Time is Golden Hour on the Comox Lake Cumberland Bluffs?
You can catch the last moments of golden hour light about 3 hours before sunset.
Because of the angles of the trees and where the sun sets, the Cumberland side is one of the first to loose light in the evening. With this couple's work schedule, we had to plan for a later time in the evening. We didn't see the last bit of sun at the top. However, the sun was still highlighting the lake, and it was gorgeous!
Another options that I would highly recommend is going there for sunrise! If you are an early bird, getting up in the morning to enjoy this spot would be so worth it!
