There’s something so peaceful about Comox Lake Bluffs, the golden light, the mountain views, and the fresh breeze from the lake. For J & A, it was the perfect spot for a session that felt relaxed, real, and captured their love story.
As a Vancouver Island engagement photographer who’s drawn to natural and soulful moments, this session had everything I love: gentle wind blowing through our hair, soft, golden-hour light behind the mountains, bluffs overlooking the lake and genuine connection between two people who love each other. If you're looking to plan your own adventure engagement session or just dreaming about a shoot that feels a little more “you,” this location never disappoints.
Why Comox Lake Bluffs Always Delivers Something Special
Whether it’s your first time here or your fifth, Comox Lake Bluffs always feels a little bit like a hidden gem. For that reason, it's also one of my favourite places to come for a picnic! Did I mention you can also choose to do this for your session? Setting up a picnic with your favourite food and drinks is a beautiful way to start your adventure session. Pull out a cozy blanket, bring some pizza, sushi, or a charcuterie board, and pair it with whatever feels like you: lemonade, tea, or a little bubbly. It adds a personal, comforting touch that makes your photos feel even more you.
The setting of the Comox Lake Bluffs itself is truly magical. The way the light beams across the cliffs during golden hour often leaves me in awe. The views here are always worth the walk in. The rocky bluffs, the lake, the small spring flowers- it’s the kind of place that sets the tone for meaningful, unrushed connection.
Story Telling Moments That Are So Meaningful
If you know J & A, you already know how lucky you are! They’re the kind of people who radiate warmth and kindness. But something you may not know is how their love story began… with a water bottle.
In the photos below, you’ll spot the very bottle that brought them together. It might look ordinary at first glance, but it holds a special place in their story. One day, J's bottle accidentally fell into the water, and without hesitation, A jumped in to save it. It just so happened to be the J’s favourite water bottle. That small act of thoughtfulness sparked something real, a connection that grew into the beautiful relationship they have today.
These are the moments I love most. The details that might seem small or insignificant to some, but carry so much meaning for others. Capturing those pieces of your story, that’s what makes this work so personal and special to me.
