There’s something deeply grounding about the coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia. The sound of waves, the softness of sand under your feet, and the open sky stretching wide above you. This Union Bay maternity session was filled with all of that, plus the kind of joy that comes from waiting to meet someone so loved already.
As a Vancouver Island photographer, these are the sessions that stay with me: natural, soulful, and so connected to each other and the land.

Union Bay Beach: The Location That Has It All
This has been one of my favourite spots for years, and honestly, it never gets old. Union Bay Beach truly has it all: mountain views, ocean waves, black sand, beach grass, golden fields, and even wildflowers in May.
It’s the kind of place that feels peaceful and full of possibility. Whether you’re planning a photoshoot, looking for a quiet spot to explore, or just want to enjoy a picnic with a view, this beach has something for everyone. Every time I visit, I notice something new, and that’s part of the magic.
If you're dreaming of a location that feels both wild and intimate, Union Bay Beach might just become your new favourite place too.

End of an Era
It breaks my heart to share that this beautiful spot, one that’s held so many special memories for my clients and myself, is changing. The golden field has already been plowed, and construction is now underway. Once the houses are built, the stunning mountain views that made this location so magical will no longer be visible. It truly feels like the end of an era.
I’m so grateful for the sessions I’ve captured here over the years, and I’ll always hold this location close as one of the most peaceful, soulful places I’ve had the privilege to photograph.
